Job summary of the Systems Engineer (ADAS)

We are looking for a Systems Engineer for one of our long term clients in Michigan to help them in requirements engineering and system validation. This client is a well-established and tier one automotive supplier company of vehicle safety technology which offers an opportunity to work with great leaders in the industry. If you are skilled in analyzing the customers need and turn them into actionable requirements for the mechanical, electrical, optics, and software disciplines and if you ave the practical knowledge of system validation, then this position is well suited to you. In this position you will be responsible for the development of the work products like system functions, sub-systems, requirements and requirements management.

Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer (ADAS)
  • Document system or subsystem requirements using requirements management tools such as Doors.
  • Analyze vehicle system elements for Hardware, Software and Mechanical.
  • Subsystem requirements validation along with changes in system Inputs, Outputs, Calibration parameters and desired behaviors to meet design goals for controls and vehicle behaviors.
  • Keep the system updated for achieving meeting requirements and system deliverables.
  • Provide support in Request for Quotation.
  • Define system test cases, system hazards and system functional flows for project deliverables.
  • Ensure System Safety Standards such as ISO26262, EuroNCAP, other external standards are followed in product development.
  • Collaborate with functional safety engineers and stakeholders for performing Functional Analysis and System (D)FMEA,  FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Define safety goals to be included in system requirements.
  • Summarize and present system design contents to stakeholders
  • Actively participate in design reviews include evaluating vehicle control system performance and robustness.
  • Support customer discussions.

Qualifications of the Systems Engineer (ADAS)
  • Bachelor in Engineering or Science, Masters preferred.
  • Atleast 3 years of experience using requirements management tools (DOORS) along with strong knowledge of ADAS, ESC or other vehicle subsystems.
  • Strong experience in applying advanced engineering principles, theories, and concepts for automotive safety systems development.
  • Strongly skilled in anticipating customer requirements gathering, even if not stated in customer documentation.
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication systems (CAN) and vehicle subsystems ( ESC, ADAS, hybrid, and powertrain).
  • Understanding of Active Safety features, safety-critical systems, sensors, failsafe, and cyber security methods are a plus.
  • Experience in writing precise technical requirements for other engineers.
  • Understanding of all engineering disciplines including a complex technical system.
  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive electronics products.
  • Experience with airbag, brake control, engine/powertrain control, steering control,and ADAS will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Model-based system development, vehicle calibration, and control systems design.
  • Experience with HIL, SIL Micro Autobox, AUTOSAR, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) will be a plus.
  • Experience in software development along with Embedded software, C Programming, Matlab/Simulink. 
  • Training in systems life cycle methodologies, structured programming (e.g. C), DFSS, 8D (root cause analysis) or system architecture (e.g. UML design, EA applications) will be beneficial.

Compensation of the Systems Engineer (ADAS)
Salary Range:  $90,000-110,000/year depending on experience 

Location: Southeast MI
