Summary of the HEV Architect (Electronics)
One of our long term clients, a world-class technology company and leader in motorsports, automotive, defense, and aerospace sectors is looking for a Prototype Engineer to help them in develop next-generation electric and hybrid vehicles. In this role you will be responsible for Vehicle Electrical Architecture, System Hardware Specification, System Integration and Testing and Software Development. This company develops cutting-edge technologies that are always evolving, your work will never be routine.  They offer a combination of stability and a small team where you get to work in a variety of areas.

Responsibilities of the HEV Architect (Electronics)
  • Development of vehicle integration strategy for electrical systems
  • Define power generation, management, and storage architecture
  • Define CAN architecture and integrate vehicle communication systems
  • Work on wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
  • Follow MIL-STD for vehicle electrical systems and wiring
  • Source hardware such as sensors, actuators, motors, energy storage etc.
  • Meet I/O and computational requirements by identifying controller hardware
  • Manage suppliers to ensure performance and timing expectations are met
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues ranging from harnessing to controller states
  • Process and analyze performance and test data and provide analysis, insight, and feedback for development
  • Help in algorithm development in Simulink using a rapid prototype environment
  • Software calibration and validation in test vehicles
Along with the above mentioned responsibilities, if required you will also interact with current & potential clients to work on planning & program management for internal and customer projects.

As you will be working on defense technologies, US Permanent Residence or Citizenship is required.

Qualifications of the HEV Architect (Electronics)
  • BSEE, MS preferred
  • Experience with vehicle electronics architecture (selecting components and suppliers, determine power needs, definte high-level requirements, etc.) and wiring schematic design
  • Solid knowledge of battery technology, including management systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of  military and commercial standards for electrical systems will be a plus
  • Wire harness layout and hands-on build experience
  • .Experience with Mentor Graphics VeSys Design/ VeSys Harness, PTC Creo Cabling, Visio etc.
  • Knowledge of Rapid Prototype Software Development Tools for Embedded Systems such as Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Mototron/Motohawk, dSPACE MABX, Vector CANape/CANalyzer will be a plus
  • Experience in data acquisition hardware and analysis
Knowledge and experience in the following areas will be preferred - 
  • Vehicle and system
  • Automotive, defense or motorsports industries
  • Electric and hybrid vehicle exposure
  • By-wire systems or vehicle robotics exposure
  • Communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, RS485, SPI, Wireless 802.11, DSRC etc.
  • Knowledge of Mechatronic component such as sensors, actuators, energy storage

Compensation of the HEV Architect (Electronics)
Salary Range:  $100,000-125,000/year

Location: Southeast Michigan
Type:  Direct
Travel:  10%
